Overview

The Vernalis Adaptive Management Plan (VAMP) is a large-scale, long-term experimental/management program designed (1) to determine how salmon survival rates change in response to alterations in San Joaquin River flows and State Water Project/ Central Valley Water Project exports with the installation of the Head of Old River Barrier (HORB), and (2) to protect juvenile Chinook salmon migrating from the San Joaquin River through the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Officially initiated in 2000 as part of State Water Resources Control Board Decision 1641, the twelve year program is now in year eight. Additional information regarding VAMP can be found at the San Joaquin River Group website at www.sjrg.org.
